DESIGNING A COLLECTION (ages 12-15)

  • Pinkwater Studio 239 Fair Street Kingston, NY, 12401 United States (map)

How do your favorite brands and designers create a collection with styles that are worn together? Learn the steps that go into designing a coordinate group of tops, pants, skirts and jackets. in this workshop for tweens and teens, we will design an original group of items using a fashion-specific method of drawing “flats” (i.e., industry-specific templates of garments styles).

To start, we will look at designer and brand collections, learn requirements for each garment category including seams for fitting, closures and proportions. We will practice drawing flats, next choosing fabrics and then drawing our own coordinated styles.

By the end of the workshop you will have designed a collection of your own with front and back views and fabric choices.

Prepare to have fun and start designing!

All materials supplied.

Suitable for ages 12 to 15

Note, all classes are held in a shared art studio on the 3rd floor, accessible by stairs only.
