Artist Statement

As a native Swede I have always felt a strong connection to the ancient Scandinavian and Nordic culture and rituals. Growing up I would often hear stories about Norse mythology. These were amazing and exciting tales, kept alive by being passed down from generation to generation; about gods, Vikings, magic and folklore that made a huge impression on me as a child.

I am now exploring my Scandinavian heritage through my art and I try to capture the beauty and hidden wisdom that is found in the poetry, runes and sagas from that time.

The Norse goddesses and the female creatures found in Scandinavian folklore and mythology are holding a special place in my artistic, cultural and textural explorations; unapologetically sensual and full of spit and fire, they compel me to explore my own femininity, viewed through the lens of ancient mystique and magic. Goddesses, elves and mystical creatures create a visual world I find myself strongly invited into.
