Anne Gabriele is an artist who explores the natural world from the garden to the ocean using the cyanotype process. She studied photography at School of Visual Arts in New York City. Anne works as a photo stylist while remaining committed to her fine art practice. She has participated in several artist residencies and her work is held in numerous private collections, including the Polaroid Collection of Photography. A Brooklyn native, Anne now divides her time between NYC and the Hudson Valley.
“My work explores the natural world from the garden to the ocean, using alternative and historic photographic processes. I'm currently working with cyanotype because it allows me to directly interact with the sun and water, physically creating within a landscape. My process is camera-less and involves hand-coating watercolor paper with photo sensitive chemistry. By abstracting landscapes and challenging familiar perception of the medium, I aim to leave the viewer questioning whether or not they are looking at a photograph.”
