PAST SHOWS

BY MOONLIGHT:

THE MAGICAL

LANDSCAPES OF

CAROLINE BURDETT

NOVEMBER - DECEMBER 2024

Pinkwater hosted the first solo show of work by Caroline Burdett. This Woodstock-based artist creates work in her mountain-view studio that is reflective of a sense of wonder at the grandeur of the natural world. The dreamlike state of these landscapes belies a foreboding that this beautiful place may be under threat, yet at the same time, this world has existed placidly under the moonlight for eons.

IN REPOSE:

THE PAINTINGS OF

KRISTIN OSTERBERG

SEPT -OCT 2024

In Repose arrived at Pinkwater Gallery at a uniquely tense moment, and to a great extent Osterberg‘s paintings stand apart from turmoil on the world stage. Meditative, somewhat melancholy, Osterberg‘s art projects a deeply humane vision that finds sweetness in the past and present without betraying sentimentality.

THE KAREN BARTH ARCHIVE

MAY - SEPT 2024

With this exhibition of the work of Karen Barth, Pinkwater Gallery put the spotlight on an artist with a prolific 35-year career, one whose work was last shown in Manhattan in 2016 just after her death.

CHILD’S PLAY

An exhibition of work by Anne Sanger, the founder of Pinkwater Gallery, in the last exhibition in our original space before moving to Kingston Social, a café, mercantile and gallery located at 237 Fair Street in Uptown Kingston.

MAPPING THE ABSTRACT

Pinkwater Gallery presented work found in its first open call, a process that yielded submissions from across the spectrum of possibilities in abstraction. The artworks chosen for this exhibition encompassed a wide range of styles, techniques, and inspirations, from vibrant bursts of color to intricate geometries and fluid forms.

THE SHAPE OF PLAY

With this show, Pinkwater Gallery presented the work of MIMI YOUNG, a multi-disciplinary artist who revels in the “chaos of making mistakes”, liberally applying the beauty of pentimento (previous layers) in achieving the final result.

As an artist-run gallery, we can more than appreciate her approach.

The Spring 2021 à la Maison collection

À LA MAISON

The gallery is devoted to being an exciting place to view and buy art for the home with a rotating stable of favorite artists and new finds every season. This approach offers art lovers and new collectors alike a welcoming place to shop for art, providing an alternative to the intimidating ‘white cube’ galleries and overwhelming online art markets out there.

OTHERS NO 1 by Helena Palazzi from ENCHANTED

ENCHANTED

Inspired by the Scandinavian folklore tales and ballads that artist and photographer Helena Palazzi grew up reading and hearing as a child, ENCHANTED invited viewers into a secret world built upon legend and peopled by mysterious faeries, elves and other creatures illuminated by the northern lights.

MONOTYPE MODERN

A survey of work created by three artists working with the technique known as monotype printmaking, which involves the transfer of ink from plate to paper. Employing a printing press, the artist is able to produce a unique print that includes a distinctive impression from the plate used to transfer the color and imprint the texture. This show from June 2020 focused on how these artists translate their expressions as modern works of art.

MARKED DIFFERENCES

The Marked Differences show in January 2020 included nearly 40 professional artists working in the Hudson Valley and Catskills area. Curated by Meredith Rosiér, the visionary behind the Drawing Galaxy, the exhibit featured abstract artwork in which these artists explore various personal approaches to making marks and exploring form, light, color and line.
