Susanna Ronner fell in love with monotype printmaking (thanks to Milton Glaser) in 2017, and it’s been a love affair with the medium since then. Her monotype works are perennially popular at Pinkwater Gallery for their unique and stylish presence, all handsomely framed in graphic black. Susanna grew up in New York City and attended the renowned High School of Music & Art. in the years that followed, she continued to pursue painting, drawing, ceramics and works on paper in the BFA program at Hunter College Goddard College in Vermont. She later earned her BFA in Graphic Design form the University of Illinois and from there, living in San Francisco to work for some of the most sought after and influential graphic designers (Michael Vanderbyl / Vanderbyl Design, and Doug Akagi / Akagi Design), before opening her own graphic design firm in Woodstock, NY, through which she continues to create beautiful work for clients like the Woodstock School of Art and the Byrdcliffe Guild.

I approach each work (in either medium) as an improvisation — I meet the ‘canvas’ with trust and curiosity and then see where it takes me. I have found a new freedom in it all — bringing to it a creative passion, a cultivated eye, and a lifetime of visual exploration.“
